Hi, members! We are close to the end of this semester. Keep working hard. Today I have read an article about modern health care system. Even though I have already written about this topic before, I want to talk about it again because the article is more specific than before. Businessweek examines eight ideas that hold high promise for transforming current health care.

Still, health care in the U.S. seems to be problem which has no solution. It is not only confusing, worrisome but also dangerous, which means that 100,000 people per a year are killed by medical mistake. However, new ideas are implemented varies widely in America and around the globe. Following some ideas are chosen because of their intensity, measured by the number of innovations in specific area, and their importance, determined by the impact the innovations could have on the practice of medicine. I think that those innovations which are already successful in other areas could be the solutions in this complicated industry. Thus I would like to introduce some of them.
E-CARE
It suggests that this system could reduce the mistakes which are related with hospital errors and lives. Also, digital health records can also provide better medical and family histories and improve accuracy of medicines and dosages. However, the information could be exposed to others without patients’ permissions.

Low-cost Delivery
We have already seen this model in the class before. Mexico, India, Thailand, Singapore, and other locales are providing inexpensive medical service and this service are naturally connected with tourism. Recently, many Americans had procedures outside the country in 2007. However, the countries, which are providing inexpensive medical service, should maintain safety standards.
Predictive/Preventive Care
Better diagnostic tools pinpoint factors that are likely to cause problems for a specific patient or population. Genetic research can help that discovering cause and doctors assess health conditions. However, it is not simple thing which is changing the policy of insurers to stop curtailing coverage of people with bad genes.

Effective Interventions
Some behaviors such as smoking, stress, overeating can lead chronic conditions which cost societies huge sums. Focused program which are smart and delivered at the workplace can help people sharply increase their health and well-being while long-term care costs for corporations and government.

Those ideas are innovative but not very new. It means that we need to consider using other innovations or paradigms which are already proved in other industries to this medical industry. Even though some ideas do not seem to be appropriate to the industry, the core concept could help some idea to develop the industry. Maybe, what we really need is not inventing new thing but adopting current innovation to new industries.
